Last updated: 24 August 2026

We want booking your stay at Danby House to be simple and straightforward. Please read the following Booking & Cancellation Policy before making a direct booking.

1. Making a Booking

A booking enquiry can be made through our website or by contacting us directly.

A booking is only confirmed once:

* We have confirmed availability;
* The agreed booking price has been accepted;
* The required deposit or payment has been received; and
* We have sent you written confirmation of your booking.

The person making the booking must be at least 18 years old and is responsible for all guests included in the booking.

2. Deposit and Payment

To secure your booking, a 50% deposit of the total booking cost is required.

The remaining 50% balance must be paid no later than 30 days before your check-in date.

For bookings made within 30 days of check-in, full payment is required at the time of booking.

If payment is not received by the agreed due date, we reserve the right to cancel the booking.

3. Security / Damage Deposit

A refundable security deposit of R2,250 is required before your stay.

The security deposit will normally be returned after your departure, provided that:

* The property and its contents have been left in a reasonable condition;
* There has been no damage, loss or breakage beyond normal wear and tear;
* No additional cleaning has been required as a result of the stay; and
* All keys, remotes and other property items have been returned.

If any deductions are necessary, we will contact the lead guest and explain the reason for the deduction.

4. Guest Cancellations

If you need to cancel your booking, please notify us as soon as possible in writing.

The following cancellation terms apply:

*30 days or more before check-in: Full refund of all amounts paid.
*15 to 29 days before check-in: 50% refund of the total booking amount.
*14 days or less before check-in: No refund will be due.

If we are able to rebook the cancelled dates, we may, at our discretion, offer an additional refund based on the value of the replacement booking.

5. Changes to Your Booking

If you would like to change your booking dates, please contact us as soon as possible.

We will do our best to accommodate changes, subject to availability. Any change in dates may result in a difference in price.

Changes are not confirmed until agreed by us in writing.

6. Cancellation by Danby House

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel your booking due to circumstances within our reasonable control, we will contact you as soon as possible.

Where possible, we will work with you to find an alternative arrangement. If this is not possible, you will receive a full refund of all amounts paid to us for the cancelled accommodation.

7. Circumstances Beyond Our Control

Occasionally, circumstances beyond our reasonable control may affect your stay. These may include severe weather, natural disasters, utility interruptions, government restrictions or other unforeseen events.

Where this occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to assist and communicate with you. Any refund or alternative arrangements will depend on the specific circumstances.

8. Early Departure and No-Shows

No refund will normally be provided if you choose to leave the property early or fail to arrive for your booking.

9. Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that guests take out appropriate travel insurance to protect against unexpected cancellations, illness, travel disruption or other circumstances that may affect their holiday.

10. Check-In and Check-Out

Unless otherwise agreed:

*Check-in: From 15h00 on the day of arrival.
*Check-out: By 10h00 on the day of departure.

Further arrival and departure instructions will be provided before your stay.

11. Maximum Number of Guests

Danby House accommodates a maximum of 6 (six), unless otherwise agreed with us in writing.

The number of guests staying at the property must not exceed the number confirmed in the booking.

12. Our Home, Your Holiday

Danby House is our family's holiday home, and we are delighted to share it with our guests.

We ask that you enjoy the house, make yourselves at home and treat it with the same care and respect that you would your own home. The lead guest is responsible for ensuring that all members of their party respect the property, its contents and the surrounding community.
